VENTURES AFRICA – American diversified multinational corporation, Walt Disney, is keen to build a theme park in Egypt, one of Africa’s leading destination for tourists.

“There are discussions going on between Disney International to build in Egypt its first Disney Park in the Middle East, similar to Disney France,” Egypt’s Investment Minister, Ashraf Salman told a state-run news agency.

According to Salman, “Having a Disney show in Egypt at the moment sends a message to the world and to foreign investors that Egypt is safe and stable.”

The theme park will be the first in the Middle East and Africa (MENA) region).

Currently, investments in Egypt’s tourism sector contributes 3.2 percent to GDP and approximately 12.6 percent to the labour market.

The theme park will improve tourism investment in Egypt, a country still recuperating from near economic collapse following three years political turmoil.
