Luanda — Angola is attending since Tuesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the High-Level Round Table on Responsible Investment in Private Sector in the Great Lakes Region, jointly promoted by the Office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the UN Global Compact.

      Luanda — Angola is attending since Tuesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the High-Level Round Table on Responsible Investment in Private Sector in the Great Lakes Region, jointly promoted by the Office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the UN Global Compact.

      This information is expressed in a note released by Economy Ministry and sent to Angop Wednesday.

      According to the source, Angola is represented at the meeting by incumbent minister of Economy, Abrahão Pio dos Santos Gourgel.

      The source stresses that Angola's participation follows the invitation to the President José Eduardo dos Santos by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Great Lakes Region, Mary Robinson.

      The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Event of the Global Compact of the United Nations aimed at fostering sustainable of enterprises as a means to ensure a common, safe and sustainable future. 

      The meeting served to help pave the way for higher quality investments and responsible character in the Great Lakes region in the sectors of Infrastructure, Energy, Agro-Industry, Tourism, Information and Communication Technology - and Mining exploration.

      Participants in the Roundtable are divided into parallel working groups and are discussing the six mentioned sectors.

      The results of the discussions in group will be submitted in plenary session scheduled for 11 June in the afternoon.
