HCM CITY (VNS)  — Top leaders from fund and business management communities will gather in HCM City on June 19 to exchange ideas on global issues and investment opportunities, especially those in Viet Nam.

The keynote speaker for the Vietnam Investment Forum 2014 (VIF 2014) will be investment guru Dr. Marc Faber.

The event is co-organised by Vietnam Investment Review (VIR), Malaysia-owned HVS Vietnam Securities Co. and Hong Kong-based Asia Frontier Capital (AFC).

Themed "The rise of frontier and emerging markets and opportunities for Viet Nam", the event will identify trends of global capital flows, discover what the changing role of emerging markets means to the fund management business, and define investment opportunities in Viet Nam. It will also discuss how to create strategic partnerships.

Dr. Marc Faber, a legendary investment advisor and one of the most influential figures in the investor world for his correct predictions on global financial bubbles and bursts, will address critical topics of concern for businesses and investors, including whether the world has entered the terminal phase of a gigantic global credit and asset bubble.

He will speak about his argument, which has generated hot debate, that the world is about to witness a new financial crash deemed to be even worse than the 2008 crisis.

In addition, he will describe how the credit and asset bubble was created and its possible consequences as well as investment opportunities for Viet Nam.

VIF 2014 will also be joined by other high-profile fund managers. AFC CEO Thomas Hugger will deliver a speech about investment strategy for frontier markets and in Viet Nam and VinaCapital CEO Don Lam will explore the theme of Viet Nam as a destination for foreign capital flows.

VIF 2014 is expected to attract 500-700 attendees, most of them international fund managers and leaders from local corporations, banks, insurance firms and renowned financial-economic experts.

Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vietnam Investment Review editor-in-chief and VIF 2014 chief organiser, said: "Vietnam Investment Forum 2014 is aimed at helping international investors and Vietnamese business leaders meet and interact with prestigious mentors, especially with Faber, a strategist with great influence among international investors."

Faber is the author of several books, including the bestseller "Tomorrow's Gold – Asia's Age of Discovery", that was published in 2002.
